Introductory Sample Request: Neuronal Media

Please fill out the form and a representative will contact you to discuss your introductory offer.

Do Your Neurons Fire Together?

Your neuronal cultures should mimic the physiological conditions in the brain as closely as possible, whether you are measuring complex interactions of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neurons or studying rodent neuronal biology in a controlled environment. Promote, rather than inhibit, neuronal activity and maturity in your cultured primary or human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)-derived neurons by using BrainPhys™ Neuronal Medium when performing functional assays. Based on the formulation by Bardy and Gage (Bardy et al. PNAS, 2015), BrainPhys™ Neuronal Medium is a serum-free basal medium that is optimized to yield a higher proportion of synaptically active neurons by mimicking the extracellular environment of the central nervous system (CNS).

You can also use NeuroCult™ SM1 (STEMCELL Modified-1) Neuronal Supplement as a serum-replacement supplement for various applications, such as microelectrode array-based recordings and calcium imaging. Based on a published formulation (Brewer et al. J Neurosci Res., 1993), this serum-free supplement can be used with your basal media and a variety of different induction factors or cytokines to support differentiation along ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm lineages.

Optimize your neuronal cell culture activity with BrainPhys™ Neuronal Medium and NeuroCult™ SM1 Neuronal Supplement. For a limited period, request your introductory offer, while supplies last.

Why Use BrainPhys™ Neuronal Medium?

  • More representative of the brain’s extracellular environment.
  • Improved neuronal function and a higher proportion of synaptically active neurons.
  • Perform functional assays without changing media and shocking cells.
  • Supports maturation of primary and PSC-derived neurons.
  • Rigorous raw material screening and quality control ensure minimal lot-to-lot variability.
