Genetic Characterization Services for Pluripotent Stem Cells

Maintaining genetic stability in pluripotent stem cell (PSC) cultures is essential for consistent and reproducible research results. To help researchers monitor and address genetic changes that may affect PSC growth and differentiation, STEMCELL Technologies offers high-quality genetic testing services specifically designed for PSC research. Our services meet the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) Standards for Human Stem Cell Use in Research (2023), a widely recognized framework for best practices in PSC research.

STEMCELL’s PSC characterization services include karyotyping and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis. Please note that these services are currently available only in North America. To register your interest for services in other regions, please add your details to the First to Know form page to be notified of availability.

G-Banded Karyotyping

Our G-banded karyotyping service is designed to identify large-scale chromosomal changes, including aneuploidies, translocations, and inversions (Resolution: ≥ 5 - 10 Mb).

FISH Analysis

Our FISH service provides a high-resolution view of specific genomic regions in PSCs that are particularly susceptible to instability, such as 20q11.21. (Resolution: typically 100 - 200 Kb for targeted regions).

Why Work with STEMCELL for PSC Genetic Testing?

Our services align with the ISSCR Standards for Human Stem Cell Use in Research (2023), specifically Section 3, which underscores the importance of routine genetic monitoring in PSC cultures. These standards recommend both broad-spectrum and targeted testing to detect genetic changes that may impact research quality over time. By using our karyotyping and FISH services, you can meet ISSCR guidelines and enhance the reliability of your PSC research.

  • Comprehensive Reporting: Our Cytogenetics Team employs rigorous methodologies aligned with ISCN (2020) standards for G-banded karyotyping and high-resolution FISH. Each analysis is accompanied by clear and consistent reporting to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Reliable Turnaround Times: Results are delivered within 10 business days for live cell submissions and within 15 business days for cryopreserved samples. For time-sensitive projects, expedited options are available upon request.
