What is eProcurement?

eProcurement is the business-to-business (B2B) purchase and sale of products and services through an online system. Your organization's eProcurement system enables you to browse products and place orders from suppliers such as STEMCELL within the same internal platform. As Scientists Helping Scientists, we want to help you simplify how you order lab supplies from us by integrating our product catalog with your systems.

eProcurement Integration Options

Access Our Products Through Your Ordering System

PunchOut provides seamless integration between your eProcurement system for placing orders and our website. Once connected, you can use your eProcurement system to access our website to browse and add products to your cart. The cart can then be "punched back" to your eProcurement system for automated generation of a purchase requisition, approval requests, and, finally, purchase order submission.

How Are PunchOut Catalogs Classified?

Level 1 PunchOut:

A level 1 PunchOut connects you to the STEMCELL PunchOut site through your eProcurement system. This connection directs you to STEMCELL’s website. Here you can add products to your cart, transfer the cart back to your procurement system, and submit a purchase order (PO) to the supplier.

Level 2 PunchOut:

Level two PunchOuts combine level one PunchOuts with a hosted catalog uploaded to your eProcurement system. Using the STEMCELL PunchOut site, you can add items to the cart, which can be transferred to your eProcurement system, or use the hosted catalog to browse products in your procurement system. A PO can then be submitted to the supplier.

How Does Our Onboarding Process Work?

Name of Your Procurement System

Details of Your eProcurement Specialist

Your eProcurement specialist is your institution's technical resource responsible for onboarding suppliers. This resource should have knowledge of the eProcurement/ERP system's technical requirements, such as the language format (i.e. OCI, cXML, XML, etc) and the special character limits and requirements for UNSPSC codes, units of measure, etc.

External eProcurement Representative or Project Manager Contact

This resource will set requirements, conduct site testing, and publish the go-live punchout catalog within your eProcurement system (optional).

Static File Uploads to Your Ordering System

A hosted catalog is a static customized file containing product data, including: name, description, and price. The catalog file is uploaded to your eProcurement system, thereby allowing you to search for and add products to a purchase requisition directly in your system. The catalogs are updated quarterly; however, for the most up-to-date and detailed product catalog, integrating via PunchOut is recommended.

Your eProcurement specialist is your institution's technical resource responsible for onboarding suppliers. This resource must have knowledge of catalog requirements (eg: format for price list, invoice type) and other terms and conditions.

Hosted Catalog Template for Your Procurement System

STEMCELL will update your institution's hosted catalog template with product names, descriptions, and prices. The updated catalog can either be sent via email or uploaded to your system. Furthermore, quarterly updates to the static file will be provided and can be customized regarding discounts and product offerings.
